Walk into the sunlight-filled showroom of Cute Buttons and you're struck with one thought: Cute Buttons isn't really about buttons at all, but features stationery, paper goods and gifts that are all just cute as a button. Located in the Chocolate Smiles Village, Cute Buttons lies just outside the center of historic downtown Cary and is fast becoming a popular destination for personalized stationery, bridal announcements, and corporate gifts. Owner Alison McLaurin dipped her toe into entrepreneurship four years ago with the launch of her own line of greeting cards under the name Tikilynn. This move spurred thoughts of a retail shop and the idea of Cute Buttons was born. In late 2008 Alison set out to offer the finest in boutique stationery and personalized service. With her eye for beautiful paper goods she is able to give customers first-hand advice on selecting paper goods that truly reflect them. Undaunted by the economic shift, Alison has been very active when it comes to networking. Forging partnerships and collaborations has kept her business thriving and has given her a fresh momentum for growing in new directions. "A lot of folks are pulling for me," she said. That helps keep Alison's chin up, even on the most challenging days. She says the economy "has forced her to really listen and learn what the customer wants."
