Charitable Fundraising Right: TSSA Fundraising Co-chairs Doug Hunt and Bill Thomas present a check to Shriners. The amount, which includes your "Make a Difference" campaign contributions, was raised at last year's convention. How You Can Participate Last year we introduced the Make a Difference campaign to give member facilities an opportunity to solicit donations from their community. Several members took on the challenge. It's easy to implement: 1) Send a signed commitment form to TSSA 2) Make copies of the starfish donation sheet 3) Collect as many starfish donations as possible between now and October 2, 2009 4) Take a picture of you and your TSSA Make a Difference wall of honor ­ send the money collected along with the picture to TSSA 5) Personalize the press release and send it to your local newspaper. The forms, starfish and sample press release can be found on the TSSA website at www. txssa.org/fundraising.shtml or call 888-2594902 to request that a copy be mailed and/or faxed to you. Big Hearts TSSA members have big hearts. In combination with the silent auction and the charity poker tournament, you, our members, raised more than $37,000 to benefit the Shriners Children's Hospital in Houston, which specializes in pediatric orthopedics. The Shriners Children's Burn Hospital, our previous beneficiary, closed due to extensive damage sustained during Hurricane Ike. Big spenders at the 2008 live auction included SBS Construction and Dan Small o f Diamond Self Storage Management (Pearland).
