Your Association TSSA Members Making A Difference h i l e Hurricane Ike has faded from most peoples' minds, aid continues to be needed for Galvestonarea victims who still lack basic items such as furniture and personal hygiene items. In the Brenham area, items were gathered and set aside for the cause, but needed to be organized and loaded onto tractor-trailers to get to Galveston. So when Kimberly Crawford, organizer of the Hurricane Ike Relief Operation, needed help storing relief items, she looked no further than Amazing Space Storage in Brenham. There, local organizers of the relief effort loaded the tractor-trailer rigs with donated items, which then headed to Galveston to distribute them to needy people. Goods included brand new clothing -- some with store tags still on -- and other items needed by people who lost virtually everything in the September hurricane that smashed into Galveston. One donor, a 90-year-old woman, even ironed the clothes she brought in for the relief effort, said Crawford. "Crawford asked us about renting a unit for a week or two," said Amazing Space Storage owner Jane Herzog. "We ended up donating a unit from October 24 to December 5. "We try to help out," added Herzog. "We have donated space to some youth organizations, and have donated a unit to a soccer group. We do try to be involved in the community."
